My Dad. A bearer of gifts.

I really love my dad.
Although sometimes we may have arguments, and his words may momentarily sting, I know that his love for me is long lasting, genuine. I love when he gives me a huge comforting bear hug after an argument. No words are needed. Tears just stream down my face... knowing that I am forgiven by him.

I've also realized (I don't know why it took me so long), but one of his love languages is to give gifts. I recall an incident 6 years ago.... We were both at an auction together (to furnish our house), and in my youth, I thought this lion lamp that was presented was the coolest thing ever. Without much thought, I said, "Woah, cooooool." A second after these two words were uttered, my dad's hand went up, and we had put in an impressive bid. No one dared to trump us, and we tasted auction victory. This cool lion lamp came into my possession. It still sits on my nightstand... often reminding me of my dad's tangible expression of his love for me.

This reminds me of:
Matthew 7: 9-11. "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!"

How much more confidence do we have as children of God, as co-heirs with Christ...to ask!! And how great will our faith be, as we tarry at the cross, not in anxiousness, but in great anticipation?!
