a gentle spirit

Yesterday I had a short, but sweet reunion with my dearest sister, Molly. She moved out of our house to embrace her calling to serve on the campus, by being the CA- Community Adviser (in residence). She's in the midst of training for such a position, and her schedule is so packed. She only had one hour of break - from 3:00-4:00pm, and that hour was total bliss for us :). We were so delighted to see one another, and we couldn't stop hugging. The other CAs were like "WOAH, there is so much LOVE!" During the one hour, I felt incredibly blessed to have such a beautiful friend. I wrote her an email this summer after listening to a sermon entitled, "The Battle for Vainity." The funny thing is, as I was listening... I was continually reminded of Molly. Not that she struggles with vanity, but because she is a woman who is satisfied in her beauty in Christ. This was one of the most beautiful things about Molly that really peaked my interest when I was first getting to know her. She had a radiance that I just couldn't understand. She didn't spend much time adorning in external things (like I did), but her beauty was simply breathtaking.

The focus of the sermon was on 1 Peter 3:3-4. Our beauty "should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." The pastor said that if you find a woman like this, who has a gentle and quiet spirit, then cling onto her and learn from her ways. I am thankful that I have a best friend who displays such a gentle spirit, and whom God is using to teach me about true beauty.

When I was on project to EA, some people mentioned to me that I had a gentle spirit. At first I was really surprised...and didn't understand, but now I'm realizing that it's through Molly's influence, and other Godly women in my life, I am slowly being transformed to mirror.... Christ.
