How quickly I forget...

My friend just recently came back from Nicaragua - and all of her stories revived all of the experiences and cherished memories I had in that sacred nation. But it's kind of scary... how quickly I forget experiences that at one point in time seemed to be so monumental. I remember coming back from Nicaragua on fire for the people, on fire for the medical profession, and on fire with the desire to help. Compounded with all of this, I grew a greater appreciation for everything at my disposal here... since a majority of the children in Nicaragua suffer from microparasites due to the contaminated water. But do I still have this great appreciation? No. I can attest to this because I haven't made changes in my lifestyle. I take a lot of things for granted. Not just the basic necessities, but everything else on top of that - education, health care, and most importantly access to the Bible.

So... I've outlined a problem. So how am I to change then? Well, I have been praying for Nicarauga, but not consistently enough. That's one thing I can change, right? Although I do not know 100% if being a doctor is what God has in store for me, but I'm still working towards it - waiting to see if the door is open or closed. This is a longer term goal, but I would just love to go there, immerse in the lovely Latin American culture, and stare into the eyes of the people and show them that I care. One of the greatest things I've experienced last year in Nicarauga was communication - minus the actual verbal communication. I didn't know how to speak Spanish, but through my eyes, and through my body language, they knew that I cared for them (even if it was temporary). Oh, I miss the children, and the one old man who rejoiced in our God for the "little pains" he experienced, thanking God that they weren't worse.

Oh how beautiful the people are!
