The Secret Garden.

Your heart is like a secret garden. Have you seen that movie? It was one of my favourites when I was young. If I recall correctly, there were two children - a boy and a girl who discovered a secret garden where they were the only ones with access to this garden. When they spent time in this garden, they were just so filled with joy that I, the viewer wanted so desperately to join them in this garden.

So how is your heart like a garden? Personally, I have been realizing just how special my heart is. In Proverbs 4:23, it says, "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." By extending the secret garden analogy, I just want to give access to my heart to Jesus and my future husband. How much more special will this be, if my heart was open solely for Jesus and my future husband? All the beauty of the garden would be the first to be seen - the flowers and grass would not be trampled upon by former (temporary) visitors.

I find it especially hard to guard my heart now that a man who is passionately in love with God has seen me in his favour. I guess I first made the excuse saying that it is okay to let down my guard since he loves God... but it's really not about the boy, it's about MY heart and MY relationship with Christ. I am sincerely taking delight in this beautiful season of singlehood because in these times I am able to see Christ as my single... everything. My single comforter, my single healer, my single prince of peace.

Hm, but don't get me wrong, I do sometimes really want to share some great times with a boy - especially when I see others around me being so happy as a couple. BUT these momentary times of happiness will not even compare to the joy experienced in the secret garden.
